More Songs that race through my mind - self generated songs winding around in the subconscious and every now and then one dives out to enter the realm of consciousness to escape and get transmitted as a song or as a whistle - to my sheer enjoyment and (well the rest of the staff don't actually comment - how weird!)

This day (blogged on 09/10/2006, but a record of 25/9/2006) I only managed to note down 1 song - how weird!

I'm Not In Love - 10cc

I'm not in love, so don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I'm not in love, no-no
(It's because...)

I like to see you, but then again
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me
So if I call you, don't make a fuss
Don't tell your friends about the two of us
I'm not in love, no-no
(It's because...)

(Be quiet, big boys don't cry)
(Big boys don't cry)
(Big boys don't cry)
(Big boys don't cry)
(Big boys don't cry)
(Big boys don't cry)
(Big boys don't cry)

I keep your picture upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that's lyin' there
So don't you ask me to give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me
I'm not in love, no-no
(It's because...)

Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me
Ooh, you'll wait a long time

Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me
Ooh, you'll wait a long time

I'm not in love, so don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made, ooh

I'm not in love, I'm not in love...

Camp Granada

Camp Granada Lyrics
Hello muddah, hello faddah
Here I am at Camp Granada
Camp is very entertaining
And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.

I went hiking with Joe Spivy.
He developed poison ivy.
You remember Leonard Skinner
He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.

All the counselors hate the waiters
And the lake has alligators
And the head coach wants no sissies
So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.

Now I don't want this should scare ya
But my bunkmate has malaria.
You remember Jeffrey Hardy
They're about to organize a searching party.

Take me home, oh muddah, fadduh
Take me home, I hate Granada!
Don't leave me out in the forest

Where I might get eaten by a bear.

Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
Or mes the house with other boys.
Oh, please don't make me stay,
I've been here one whole day.

Dearest fadduh, darling muddah,
How's my precious little bruddah?
Let me come home, if you miss me
I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me.

Wait a minute, it's stopped hailing.
Guys are swimming, guys are sailing
Playing baseball, gee that's bettah
Muddah, faddah kindly disregard this letter!

Follow On version

Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh.
I am back at Camp Granada.
And I'm writing you this letter
Just to say my compound fracture's getting better.

No one here knows where my trunk is
And my bunk is where the skunk is.
And this year the food's improving
'Cause the little black things in it are not moving.

Our camp nurse is quite a swimmer.
She says swimming makes you slimmer.
Her name's Mrs. Balagreeni.
Have you ever seen a whale in a bikini?

All our bathrooms have such thin doors.
Gee, I wish they'd move them indoors.
We're all tired of Mother Goose here.
So next Friday night they're having Lenny Bruce here.

Let me stay, oh Muddah, Fadduh.
Let me stay, I love Granada.
Every night the camp fire's really keen.
Oh mom, please send some Ovaltine.

Let me stay, out here in mother nature's land
And tip-toe through the tulips grand.
To leave would be a shame.
Besides, I'd miss the poker game.

Please don't worry, Fadduh, Muddah.
I'll take care of little brudda.
He plays ball here and he rows here
And I hope they teach him how to blow his nose here.

He wakes up at half past six and
Goes directly to the quick sand.
He was lonely, now he's better.
He's like all of us except his bed is wetter.

Thursday Rules Baby but Friday CONQUERS :)

Move Along…Nothing to see here!

Hi Viewer (and with some optimism...ViewerS).

Below are the tunes that once again my head resolved to sing through out the day.

Busy busy days have I been through.

My brother decided to take back his bike this week (funny how brothers do that...the bike had been sitting unattended for months in the shed with a puncture and needing attention. Once I had made it road worthy and a joy to ride...he suddenly wants it. Ofcourse the fact that some drunk had crashed into and wrecked his Audi convertable car may have had something to do with his need for transport - until the insurance decides to pay up.)

Donny Osmond - Puppy Love
Scott Joplin - The Entertainer
Jamelia - Superstar
?

Elton John/Kiki Dee - Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Elton John/Kiki Dee - Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner
?

The Everly Brothers - Wake up little Susie

?

Donny Osmond - Puppy Love
And they called it puppy love
Oh, I guess they'll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so

And they called it puppy love
Just because we're in our teens
Tell them all it isn't fair
To take away my only dream

I cry each night my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I'll hope and I'll pray that maybe someday
You'll be back in my arms once again

Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I, how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love

Jamelia - Superstar
People always talk about (ey oh ey oh ey oh)
All the things they're all about (ey oh ey oh ey oh)
Write it on a piece of paper,
Got a feeling I'll see you later.

There's something 'bout this,
Let's keep it moving,
And if it's good let's just get something cooking.
'cause I really wanna rock with you,
I'm feeling some connection to the things you do.
(you do, you do).

refrain:
I don't know what it is,
That makes me feel like this,
I don't know who you are,
But you must be some kind of superstar,
'cause you got all eyes on you no matter where you are, (you just make me wanna play)

Baby take a look around (ey oh ey oh ey oh)
Everybody's getting down (ey oh ey oh ey oh)
Deal with all the problems later,
Bad boys on their best behaviour.

There's something 'bout you,
Let's keep it moving,
And if it's good let's just get something cooking,
'cause I really wanna rock with you,
I'm feeling some connection to the things you do,
(you do, you do).

refrain

I like the way your movin' (ey oh ey oh ey oh)
I just get into the groove and then (you just make me wanna play)
If you just put pen to paper (ey oh ey oh ey oh)
Got that feeling I'll see you later.

Make your move, can't we get a little closer?
You rock it just like you're supposed to,
Hey boy I ain't got nothing more to say,
'cause you just make me wanna play

I don't know what it is,
That makes me feel like this,
I don't know,
Gotta be, gotta be a superstar,
All eyes on you.

refrain (2x)

Elton John/Kiki Dee - Don't Go Breaking My Heart
Don't go breaking my heart
I couldn't if I tried
Honey if I get restless
Baby you're not that kind

Don't go breaking my heart
You take the weight off me
Honey when you knock on my door
I gave you my key

Nobody knows it
When I was down
I was your clown
Nobody knows it
Right from the start
I gave you my heart
I gave you my heart

So don't go breaking my heart
I won't go breaking your heart
Don't go breaking my heart

And nobody told us
'Cause nobody showed us
And now it's up to us babe
I think we can make it

So don't misunderstand me
You put the light in my life
You put the sparks to the flame
I've got your heart in my sights

Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner
I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner

I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee

And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue

He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in

"It is always
Nice to see you"
Says the man
Behind the counter

To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella

And I look
The other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos

I'm pretending
Not to see them
Instead
I pour the milk

I open
Up the paper
There's a story
Of an actor

Who had died
While he was drinking
It was no one
I had heard of

And I'm turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies

When I'm feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head

There's a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?

No she does not
Really see me
Cause she sees
Her own reflection

And I'm trying
Not to notice
That she's hitching
Up her skirt

And while she's
Straightening her stockings
Her hair
Is getting wet

Oh, this rain
It will continue
Through the morning
As I'm listening

To the bells
Of the cathedral
I am thinking
Of your voice...

And of the midnight picnic
Once upon a time
Before the rain began...

I finish up my coffee
It's time to catch the train

The Everly brothers - Wake up little Susie
Wake up, little Susie, wake up
Wake up, little Susie, wake up
We’ve both been sound asleep, wake up, little Susie, and weep
The movie’s over, it’s four o’clock, and we’re in trouble deep
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie, well

Whatta we gonna tell your mama
Whatta we gonna tell your pa
Whatta we gonna tell our friends when they say “ooh-la-la”
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie, well

I told your mama that you’d be in by ten
Well Susie baby looks like we goofed again
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie, we gotta go home

Wake up, little Susie, wake up
Wake up, little Susie, wake up
The movie wasn’t so hot, it didn’t have much of a plot
We fell asleep, our goose is cooked, our reputation is shot
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie, well

Whatta we gonna tell your mama
Whatta we gonna tell your pa
Whatta we gonna tell our friends when they say “ooh-la-la”
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie

Sunday 17th September 2006
My 3 nephews: J1, J2 and J3 spent the night here yesterday. J1 and J3 woke up early and were soon joined by J2.
Around midday we all played a lil tennis in the back garden. After a lot of discussion the boys agreed to a compromise and we would cycle to the BMX track.

When we got there it was very crowded by kids with “Attitude”. The language was colourful. Their opinions on various topics were loud and proud. I suggested to the kids we leave and none objected – they’d all had about 15minutes on the track by this time.

I mentioned to the kids we would venture into the hills. I was hoping to show them a reservoir located on a nearby mountain. J1 wanted to go home to his mum’s house. Since it was in the same direction as the mountain I decided we’d pass pop in. His mum kept him in because of his attitude.

J2, J3 and I continued on our journey. We followed the same lanes as yesterday. At the end of the lanes we took a new direction and began the journey up. The gradient was gradual and initially both boys found the going easy. When the gradient started increasing I took them on a side road to investigate some greenery down a blocked off road – it was a good decision. We found an acorn tree and a blackberry bush. The kids were amazed by actually seeing a real live acorn – on a tree. They are so used to seeing them in books yet here was one on a tree – that they could touch and pick off…ACORNS!!! J3 wanted me to reach various black and red berries.
I cycled off in hopes of pulling them away. I hid around a side road. I heard J3 saying, “Where is he?”
J2, now aged 9, wiser and older, and knowing my tendencies now said, “He’s hiding”.
I could hear them but could not see them and thus they could not see me.
3 minutes later J2 cycled past and said “Hi!” with a grin.

We cycled back to the main road and started heading up. We soon came to a bridge which spanned across a motorway. I got the kids to wave to oncoming cars below. It’s amazing the “Good feeling” you get when total strangers wave back! J2, MR MOODY, was smiling broadly with each wave back. He counted each wave-back and reached 13 before I said let’s roll.

We found more blackberries, which we investigated orally. The incline became steeper. I ended up pushing J3’s and my bike. We then headed off the tarmac road and started climbing a dirt track onto a tree-ridden mountain. Surprisingly we encountered around 10people on that mountain as we journeyed up and up and up.

Eventually we found a fallen tree and decided to break out the picnic. We each had a chicken sandwich, J2 had most of a pair, some apple. J3 had a sandwich too and 2 chocolate biscuits.
They saw some kids and teens in the distance and wandered off to investigate.

It turns out that by pure random walking/cycling we had come upon a favourite haunt of adventure mountain cyclists and mountain boarders (like a skateboard but with bigger, pram size wheels; but with grip). The cyclists were basically jumping off a piece of earth the size of a two-story house into a dip and then racing up the other side. The mountain boarder was racing down the mountain in spurts, jumping over obstacles and going round trees and rocks.
J1 and J3 spent an hour making friends and watching the teen boys too.

Eventually the teens left and the mountain boarder stayed only a little longer (he was only 10). Now came one of the most fun parts of the day. Having taken the effort to journey up a mountain WITH A BIKE... WE WERE NOW GOING TO GO DOWN…AT SPEED!!!!
The first part was going down the dirt track – to the right of which was a drop at an angle of 45degrees. J2 raced down and was out of my eyesight. J3 cycled down with great skill and good speed – scary speed for me! AND when we got to the paved road…WOW those boys had no fear. They must have gone down that road at 35-45kph! During all this mad speed the kids had broad grins and vocalised their thoughts “THIS IS BRILLIANT”.
It was a shame that J1 had not come along.

The journey home had a few more eventful moments. When we got home, their mother and J1 were waiting to take them. The timing of our arrival was incredible. The kids had dinner and were soon whisked off, as tomorrow was a school day. They would sleep well I was certain.

At his mum’s home J1 had played a lil on his Xbox but had soon fallen asleep. He had been tired the poor guy. So when we met him he looked happier and healthier.

I was bushed and suddenly felt it once the kids had left. Still every time I thought of the bike journeys and the smiles of joy I could not help but feel good. Once again I had come through with the loving entertainment.

During the time the kids had gone off to investigate the bikers, I encouraged the sprites of the woods to aid me in enabling my dreams to fruit.

Night Night :)

Saturday 16th September 2006
My nephews were dropped down yesterday evening. They looked tired. I soon got them changed into nightclothes and they watched HOODWINKED [yes again :) ] – it’s a very funny movie with plenty to make kiddies, teens and adults laugh. After it they all headed up, reluctantly brushed and were soon asleep.

This morning we all had breakfast and chilled. Eventually the youngest fell to my charms and agreed to go out. He then suggested we play tennis in the garden. I rolled out my tennis rackets (the first time for months – I have 4, always prepared) and we were soon in the back garden having fun. Soon we were joined by the rest of his brothers and we deep into fun, climbing, arguing, sniping, teaching, sermonising – u know regular parent type activities :).

Then J1, the eldest suggested we go play on the tennis courts. Since his bike had a puncture he suggested we walk. WALK…DID HE SAY WALK! NO WAY! I WILL FIX YOUR BIKE BEFORE YOU SEE ME WALK! So I fixed his bike, it took me all of 10minutes to replace his inner tube with a spare I had hanging around. Despite it only taking 10 minutes J3 still asked me “Are you ready yet?” about 10 times during those 10minutes :). We cycled to their new home first, so that J1 could pick up some shorts. The ride was fun, a convoy of 4, past many kids and adults and no doubt all assuming I was the father of the cute kids. J1 and J2 would motor ahead while J3 (soon to be 7years old) kept me company with his views of the world. E.g. “Lets go this way, I know where this goes”, “Lets go in the jungle, it scares me, are you going with me”, “Don’t go in the mud you’ll sink”.
When we got to their new house their mum was slightly hung over with 4 work-girl-friends. The kids soon raided the kitchen for immediate sweets, J1 went up to find some shorts. J2 decided to also find shorts but failed to his mum’s chagrin, he tried again and failed again, so of course Mum found them and a belt too. Soon we were off.
Soon after we discovered an abandoned industrial estate and went investigating. Broken glass was everywhere as the abandoned building had been visited by hooligans. The building had not long been vacated and that added to the feeling of excitement. The kids discussed “cops” being around the corner, of hidden cameras watching our every move. The only thing that scared me was the thought of the kids cutting themselves on pieces of glass left in doors.
We then cycled on and found some lanes that we’d never been down before. We stopped to check out some blackberries (that were far from traffic and so I felt were safe to try). I like the bitterness of the red berries and the sweetness of a really good blackberry. I got J3 to try a red, and did prepare him for a “bitter/sour” taste (but since kids are into “bitter/sour” sweets now felt he would understand – and he did). His face screwed up…then he asked for more…red ones :). J2 only likes the black berries :).
We soon found ourselves crossing a private golf course. We tried to stay away from the players as I knew we were technically trespassing. I soon found a break in the hedge that would allow us to escape “rich mania” to a busy road on the edge of town. J2 checked out the break in the hedge and noticed the thorns and nettles. The brave guy managed to get himself and his bike, with obvious difficulty, through all these obstacles. J1 followed and he too found it awkward but managed it. I took J3’s bike through and J3 followed through on foot. Then I journeyed through.
The guys recognised where we were and loved crossing busy roads (they obviously took it as a milestone in their growth to manhood). We stopped by the shops and I purchased Ice creams, drinks, crisps and sweets. We sat down behind the shops to eat, talk, watch and do kiddie things.
Finally we set off and finally arrived at the tennis courts. J2 was, in hindsight, obviously tired, as he was very moody. J1, J2 and I played mostly. J3 had a little go but soon disappeared to play in the rest of the park. J1 and J2 soon had a bust up and J1 decided to cycle around the park. I had a few more rounds with J2 and he did play some sweet shots. But every time he played “what he thought of as a bad shot” he would berate himself and then play lazy tennis on the next shot. Eventually I stopped as my groin started complaining – caused more by sudden attempts at bursts of speeds – the good news is the left groin is doing more that it could 2 months ago so there is some progress.

I cycled home, J2 stayed in the tennis courts in a mood. J1 went back to get him (as I waited around the corner). J3 complained that the other 2 were allowed to stay so why couldn’t he? I cycled on 100m and then waited. J3 soon came. We stopped by a tree, which had a smaller branch, at about head-level, that looked like a snake sitting on a bigger branch. So I showed it to J3. As he went to make a closer investigation, J1 and J2 appeared in the distance. Soon all were investigating the “apparent snake”.

A happier convoy then set off for home. They had dinner and watched “Attack of the Clones”. J1 was first to head off to bed (before the movie completed), J2 followed. J3, the youngest, managed to keep awake for the entire movie.

Paul Owen - Favourite waste of time
You're mine - you're my favourite waste of time

Mine - baby
you're my favourite waste of time.

Here I am

I'm playing day dreaming fool again - my favourite game

And you are the one who's got my head in the clouds above

You're the one that I love
'cause -
You're mine - baby
you're my favourite waste of time

I don't care if being with you is meaningless and ridiculous

If it's wrong or right
I'm gonna give you my love tonight

And tomorrow night
'cause -
You're mine - baby
you're my favourite waste of time

'Cause you're mine - I must be out of my mind

Yes
you're mine all the time - I'm wasting all time!

Even though the love you give to me
never shows I can take the blows
And there's one last thing
I'm gonna give you my love tonight

And the bells gonna ring
and -
You're mine - baby
you're my favourite waste of time

You're mine - you're my favourite waste of time

Mine - baby
you're my favourite waste of time

Mine - baby
you're my favourite waste of time

UB40 ft. Chrissy Hynde - I Got You Babe
They say we're young and we don't know
Won't find out till we grow
Well I don't know why that's true
Cause you got me baby, I got you

refrain:
Babe, I got you babe, I got you, Babe.

They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earn'd our money's always spent
I guess that's so, we don't have a pot
But at least I'm sure of all the things we got

refrain

I got flowers in the spring
I got you, you wear my ring
And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared you're always around
And then they say your hair's too long
But I don't care, with you I can't do wrong
Then put your warm little hand in mine
There ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb

refrain

I got you to hold my
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you I won't let go
I got you who loves me so
I got you, babe

Boyz II Men - Motown Philly
Motownphilly's back again
Doin' a little east coast fling
Boyz ii men going off
Not too hard, not too soft

It's long overdue but now
Philly is slammin'
Boyz ii men, abc, bbd
The east coast family

Never skipped a beat, na
While cooling on South street
Jet black Benz, plenty of friends
And all the Philly steaks you could eat

Back in school we used to dream about this everyday
Could it really happen? Or do dreams fade away
Then we started singing them
They said it sounded smooth
So we started a group and here we are
Kickin' it just for you

refrain:
Motownphilly's back again
Doin' a little east coast fling
Boyz ii men going off
Not too hard, not too soft

The spotlight is on us now
Watch us do this
Da da, daaa da da, da da da da da da

Live and direct from Philly town
Rap and hype and we can get down
We are ready to roll
So now the world will know that we were

Back in school we used to dream about this everyday
Could it really happen? Or do dreams fade away
Then we started singing them
They said it sounded smooth
So we started a group and here we are
Kickin' it just for you

refrain

Doom doom doom da da, doom doom doom da da
Da di da di da da, da da, daa daa daa
Doom doom doom da da, doom doom doom da da
Da di da di da da, da da, daa daa daa

refrain

Leo Sayer - How much love
How much love do you need
Before you give your love to me
How much time before it grows
How much love I wanna know

What can I do
What can I say
The last thing I want
Is to drive you away
How much love does it take
How much love for heaven sake

How much love, how much love
Do I rush right in or do I hesitate
How much love
How much love, how much love

Am I tryin' too hard
Give me some kind of clue
There must be a way to get through to you
Should I come on strong or do I hesitate
Do I rush right in or do I wait

How much love, how much love
Do I rush right in or do I hesitate
How much love
How much love, how much love

I get so much love
Don't know where to begin
I'm pleadin' with you babe
You gotta give in

Fugees - Killing me softly "
Strumming dub plates with our fingers,
Eliminate sounds with our song,
Killing a sound boy with this sound,
Killing a sound boy with this sound,
Taking sound boys' lives with this dub,
Killing him softly with this sound.
Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song.

I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style,
And so I came to see him and listen for a while.
And there he was this young boy, stranger to my eyes,
Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song.
I felt all flushed with fever,
Embarrassed by the crowd,
I felt he found my letters and read each one out loud.
I prayed that he would finish,
But he just kept right on strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song

Yo l-boogie, take it to the bridge

Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
Killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song.
Strumming my pain with his finger, yeah he was. . .

The Weeks fly by, The Months Whizz, The Year draws to a close.
The groin strain finally appears to be on the final stages of healing – so I thought. I hope to be back in sporting action by the end of the month – I doubt it. I continue to cycle. The groin strain has curtailed my exercise regime and I have only been able to do 90 press-ups and 80 sit-ups per session during this time. – still a fact.

The following music flowed through my head on 14/9/6:

Tears For Fears - Shout
Marvin Gaye - Heard it Through The Grapevine
Martha & the Muffins - Echo Beach

?

Nateo - My Cherie Amour
Robbie Williams - Old before I die
Lily Allen - Smile
?

Cameo - Word Up

?

Martha & the muffins - Echo beach
I know it's out of fashion
And a trifle uncool
But I can't help it
I'm a romantic fool
It's a habit of mine
To watch the sun go down
On Echo beach, I watch the sun go down
From nine till five I have to spend my time at work
The job is very boring, I'm an office clerk
The only thing that helps pass the time away
Is knowing I'll be back at Echo Beach some day
On a silent summer evening
The sky's alive with light
Building in the distance
Surrealistic sight
On Echo Beach
Waves make the only sound
On Echo Beach
There's not a soul around
From nine till five I have to spend my time at work
The job is very boring, I'm an office clerk
The only thing that helps pass the time away
Is knowing I'll be back at Echo Beach some day
Echo Beach
Far away in time
Echo Beach
Far away in time
REPEAT AND FADE

Robbie Williams - Old Before I Die live

She's taking me places
I should never have been
She's showin' me faces
I should never have seen
Well these are strange days we're livin' in today
Cest la vie I say
I hope I'm old before I die
I hope I live to relive the days gone by
I hope I'm old before I die
But tonight I'm gonna live for today
So come along for the ride
I hope I'm old before I die
She's not feeling stable
She's unable to breathe
Her heart's beating faster
So I'll ask her to leave
These are strange days we're livin' in today
Am I straight or gay
I hope I'm old before I die
I hope I live to see the day
The pope gets high
I hope I'm old before I die
Well tonight I'm gonna live for today
So come along for the ride
I hope I'm old before I die
Well these are strange days we're livin' in today
Cest la vie I say, I say, I say
I hope I'm old before I die
I hope I live to relive the days gone by
I hope I'm old before I die
But tonight I'm gonna live for today
So come along for the ride
I hope I'm old before I die
Old before I die
Old before
Old before
Old before I die
Old before I die

Lily Allen Smile
When you first left me
I was wanting more
But you were fucking that girl next door
Whatd you do that for
When you first left me
I didnt know what to say
Id never been on my own that way
Just sat by myself all day
refrain:
I was so lost back then
But with a little help from my friends
I found the light in the tunnel at the end
Now youre calling me up on the phone
So you can have a little whine and a moan
And its only because youre feeling alone
At first when I see you cry
Yea it makes me smile
Yea it makes me smile
At worst I feel bad for awhile
But then I just smile
I go ahead and smile
Whenever you see me
You say that you want me back
And I tell you it don't mean jack
No it don't mean jack
I couldnt stop laughing
No I jus couldnt help myself
See you messed up my mental health
I was quite unwell
refrain
Now youre calling me up on the phone
So you can have a little whine and a moan
And its only because youre feeling alone
At first when I see you cry
Yea it makes me smile
Yea it makes me smile
At worst I feel bad for awhile
But then I jus smile
I go ahead and smile

Cameo - Word Up
Yo, pretty ladies around the world
Got a weird thing to show you so tell all the boys and girls
Tell your brother, your sister and your mamma too
Cause they're about to throw down and you'll know just what to do
Wave your hands in the air like you don't care
Gilde by the people as they start to look and stare
Do your dance, do your dance, do your dance quick mamma
Come on baby tell me what's the word
Word up everybody say
When you hear the call you've got to get it underway
Word up it's the code word
No matter where you say it you'll know that you'll be heard
Now all you sucker dj's who think you're fly
There's got to be a reason and we know the reason why
you try to put on those airs and act real cool
But ya got to realise that you're acting like fools
If there's music we can use it we need to dance
We don't have the time for psychological romance
No romance, no romance, no romance for me mamma
Come on baby tell me what's the word
Word up everybody say
When you hear the call you've got to get it underway
Low
Dial “L” for Low
C'mon all you people say
W.O.R.D. up, W.O.R.D. up, W.O.R.D. up, W.O.R.D. up

Sadness Reigns

Sad news arrived from another continent. My aunt, and last remaining sister of my mother, died in July. She received the letter today. I last met my aunt over 10years ago. At that time she had last seen me as a nursery child. So when her younger sister turned up with all the descendents (me, my bro and sis), we were all greeted with incredible fondness and love. The greetings we were given were not just from immediate family but from the entire village. At that time we were greeted by her 3 sisters and 1 brother. Now she is left with a just brother who is not entirely well either - the other sisters having died during the intervening years.

J3 fell over and cut his head, again, in school. He was taken to hospital as the bleeding looked bad and as a precaution (happens with all head injuries). He is ok. Initially the story was that he was pushed by one of his school mates - but tomorrow I get told by J1 that it was an accident (though it was in school).

The following music flowed through my head on 13/9/6:

Bring me Sunshine - Morecombe and Wise / Willie Nelson
Wonderwall - Oasis
Ebony and Ivory - Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney

?Sunshine
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Bob Marley - I Shot The Sheriff
Lisa In The Sky With Diamonds - The Beatles
Gary Numan - Cars

Bring me Sunshine - Morecombe and Wise / Willie Nelson
Bring me Sunshine, in your smile,
Bring me Laughter, all the while,
In this world where we live, there should be more happiness,
So much joy you can give, to each brand new bright tomorrow,

Make me happy, through the years,
Never bring me, any tears,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.

Bring me Sunshine, in your eyes,
Bring me rainbows, from the skies,
Life's too short to be spent having anything but fun,
We can be so content, if we gather little sunbeams,

Be light-hearted, all day long,
Keep me singing, happy songs,
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above,
Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love.

Wonderwall - Oasis

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day?
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after an
You're my wonderwall

Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me (3x)

Bob Marley - I Shot The Sherrif
(I shot the sheriff,
but I didn't shoot no deputy
Oh, no, oh
I shot the sheriff, but I didn't shoot no deputy
Ooh, ooh, ooh Yeah

All around in my hometown
They're tryin' to track me down, yeah
They say they want to bring me in guilty
For the killing of a deputy, for the life of a deputy
But I say, oh, now, now...

Oh, I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self defense
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I said, I shot the sheriff, Oh Lord
And they say it is a capital offense
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Hear this

Sheriff John Brown always hated me
For what I don't know
Every time I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows."
He said, "Kill them before they grow."

And so, oh, now, now,
Read it in the news

I shot the sheriff, but I swear it was in self defense
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Where was the deputy?
I said I shot the sheriff but I swear it was in self defense

Freedom came my way one day
And I started out of town, yeah!
All of a sudden I saw Sheriff John Brown
Aiming to shoot me down
So I shot, I shot, I shot him down
And I say, if I am guilty I will pay

I shot the sheriff, but I say, but I didn't shoot no deputy
Ooh, no, oh
I shot the sheriff, but I didn't shoot no deputy
Ooo, ooo, ooh

Reflexes had the better of me
And what is to be must be
Every day the bucket a-go-a well
One day the bottom a-go drop out
One day the bottom a-go drop out
I say, I, I, ...

I, I shot the sheriff, but I didn't shoot the deputy, no

Lisa In The Sky With Diamonds - The Beatles
Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmellow pies,
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And you're gone.
Lucy in the sky with diamonds,
Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstyle,
The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes.
(15x)

Gary Numan - Cars

Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
In cars
Here in my car
I can only receive
I can listen to you
It keeps me stable for days
In cars

Here in my car
The image breaks down
Will you visit me please
If I open my door
In cars

Here in my car
I know I've started to think
About leaving tonight
Although nothing seems right
In cars

I know I've started to think
I know I've started to think

Assertiveness, Beauty, Thrillseeking, Sports - Her Turn-ons :)
My internet has been out of action for a few weeks. I'm back now and running at 10Meg :).
Saturday I got myself ready and cycled 5miles to the market where I intended to purchase a new bike. When I got there I found a cycle stall with 4 old bikes and various accessories at ordinary prices. I purchased nothing, mainly because there was nothing of interest.

I then wandered about the other stores, passing in and out of people. I bumped into H, the football buddy, and his girlfriend. He stopped to talk for about 3 sentences each. His girlfriend ignored us and carried on walking. She has an ass that reminds me of safari shots of our big eared brothers in Africa and India :). So he left soon so that he could catch up to her.
The market was a buzzing, but the goods more resembled boot-sale products than "market no-shop front, no rent, goods". So I left.

I cycled into town and tried out some shorts and a shirt in the town centre sports shop. It was as I got to the till I discovered I could not find my wallet. I was 49% sure that some no good thief had opened my side pockets and made off with it, but I was 51% sure I had left it home - during some side-thoughts moment. I cycled home and found my wallet laying on the coffee table. So I cycled back to town and purchased my goods, which the kind salesman had kept behind him (more likely he had been too busy to move from the till - town too was buzzing).

Thence to home and major surgery on a hedge. Nephews J2 and J3 were brought over by their dad. J2's bike chain is broken. So J2, J3 and I cycled to the bike shop. The bike man refused to repair and instead sold me a chain repair tool and a couple of links. Outside the store the kids played in the totally empty car park of a cashNcarry. I failed miserably in trying to fix the chain with the supplied tools. Eventually we headed back home.

The next day the kids were joined by their elder brother and had a day of fun with their dad. I meanwhile was able to keep busy fixing J2's bike (successfully, resorting to a hammer :) after about 3 hours). Being a glutton for hard work I then carried on to replace "my" current bikes back bike rim and back brakes. I also disassembled the back brake mechanism and finally figured out how it works and what the "meaningless" screw on the side does.

The most important effect on me was the sense of achievement. Fixing a bike chain was a key memorable ability, that I knew my father had performed on a bike, that I had, upto this point in my life, not. The fact that I had now also done it was a poignant moment.

The heading: This refers to a website I discovered. It lists Lisa's turn-ons. By Friday I was feeling chuffed at having gotten her mostly out of my head. Sadly Saturday and my roaming on the internet led me to "taking more Lisa drugs" and suddenly I appear to be hooked again.

The groin strain finally appears to be on the final stages of healing. I hope to be back in sporting action by the end of the month. I continue to cycle. The groin strain has curtailed my exercise regime and I have only been able to do 90 press-ups and 80 sit-ups per session during this time.

During the past month my brother lost his, and his kid's pride and joy - his open-top family sports car. Some youth full of alcahol failed to take a turn and crashed straight into his car. 10minutes earlier and it would have contained him and friends. The car is a right off but thankfully no person was harmed. The drunken lad got away dispite an adreniline based chase by my brother - who tried to chase him, on town streets, with no shoes on.

Watched Zathura - loved it :). Still got the kid in me.

The following music flowed through my head on 7/9/6 and 8/9/6:

Amazing Grace
As Time Goes By
Ebony and Ivory - Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney

?
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Hit the Road Jack - Ray Charles
Hey Jude - The Beatles
Celine Dion - River Deep Mountain High
?
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

Wet Wet Wet - love is all around
Leo sayer - You make me feel like dancing
Marvin Gaye - Heard it Through The Grapevine

?
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬

As Time Goes By
You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say I love you
On that you can rely
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

Moonlight and lovesongs never out of date
Hearts full of passion, jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny

It's still the same old story
The fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

Ebony and Ivory - Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney

Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh lord, why don't we?

refrain:
We all know that people are the same where ever we go
There is good and bad in everyone,
We learn to live, we learn to give
Each other what we need to survive together alive.

Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh lord why don't we?

Ebony, ivory living in perfect harmony
Ebony, ivory, ooh

refrain

Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh lord why don't we?

Ebony, ivory living in perfect harmony

Hit the Road Jack - Ray Charles
(Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.)
(Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more.)
What you say?
(Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.)
(Hit the road Jack and don't you come back no more.)

Woah Woman, oh woman, don't treat me so mean,
You're the meanest old woman that I've ever seen.
I guess if you said so
I'd have to pack my things and go. (That's right)

Now baby, listen baby, don't ya treat me this-a way
Cause I'll be back on my feet some day.
(Don't care if you do 'cause it's understood)
(you ain't got no money you just ain't no good.)
Well, I guess if you say so
I'd have to pack my things and go. (That's right)

Well
(don't you come back no more.)
Uh, what you say?
(don't you come back no more.)
I didn't understand you
(don't you come back no more.)
You can't mean that
(don't you come back no more.)
Oh, now baby, please
(don't you come back no more.)
What you tryin' to do to me?
(don't you come back no more.)
Oh, don't treat me like that
(don't you come back no more.)

Hey Jude - The Beatles
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
The you begin to make it better

And anytime you feel the pain
Hey Jude refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Na na na na na
Na na na na

Hey Jude don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her
Remember to let get into your heart
Then you can start to make it better

So let it out and let it in
Hey Jude begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you
Hey Jude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Na na na na na
Na na na na yeah

Hey Jude
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you can begin to make it better
Better, better, better, better, better, oh

Na, na na na na na na
na na na na, hey Jude
(15x)

Celine Dion - River Deep Mountain High
When I was a little girl
I had a rag doll
Only doll I've ever owned
Now I love you just the way I loved that rag doll
But only now my love has grown

And it gets stronger, in every way
And it gets deeper, let me say
And it gets higher, day by day

And do I love you my oh my
Yeh river deep mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

When you were a young boy
Did you have a puppy
That always followed you around
Well I'm gonna be as faithful as that puppy
No I'll never let you down

Cause it grows stronger, like a river flows
And it gets bigger baby, and heaven knows
And it gets sweeter baby, as it grows

And do I love you my oh my
Yeh river deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

I love you baby like a flower loves the spring
And I love you baby just like Tina loves to sing
And I love you baby like a school boy loves his pet
And I love you baby, river deep mountain high
Oh yeah you've gotta believe me
River Deep, Mountain High

Do I love you my oh my, oh baby
River deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, ba

Marvin Gaye - Heard it Through The Grapevine
Ooh, I bet you're wond'rin' how I knew
'bout your plans to make me blue
With some other guy you knew before
Between the two of us guys you know I love you more
It took me by surprise I must say
When I found out yesterday
Dontcha know that I

Heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
Oh I heard it through the grapevine
Oh I'm just about to lose my mind
Honey, honey yeah
(Heard it through the grapevine)
(Not much longer would you be my baby, ooh, ooh, ooh)

I know a man ain't supposed to cry
But these tears I can't hold inside
Losin' you would end my life you see
'cause you mean that much to me
You could have told me yourself
That you love someone else
Instead I

Heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
Oh I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind
Honey, honey yeah
(Heard it through the grapevine)
(Not much longer would you be my baby, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)

People say believe half of what you see
Son, and none of what you hear
But I can't help bein' confused
If it's true please tell me dear
Do you plan to let me go
For the other guy you loved before?
Dontcha know I

Heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine
Baby I heard it through the grapevine
Ooh I'm just about to lose my mind
Honey, honey yeah
(Heard it through the grapevine)
(Not much longer would you be my baby, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Honey, honey, I know
That you're lettin' me go
Said I heard it through the grapevine

FADE
Heard it through the grapevine
